Michael felt himself lift off the bed. At first he felt panic but slowly allowed himself to relax. He rose all the way to the ceiling and just hung there, in mid air!
This wasn't the first time this would be happening. Michael had always had a problem planting his feet firmly on the earth. He remembered vividly an incident that occurred when he was a little- about nine or ten. At the time he had been running to school, excited when he had suddenly felt himself levitate off the ground. He had been so frightened afterwards. When he had mentioned it to his mother, she had simply dismissed the idea, laughing. Afterward, he had not had the courage to mention it again to anyone else. The levitation didn't stop. It came now and then. As a teenager, he came up with different weird theories to explain what was happening with him- maybe he was an alien, maybe he was a science experiment, maybe he was a new kind of human specie, maybe he was the next step in human evolution, maybe... maybe...
He had eventually run out of maybes and embraced his eccentricity. He trusted no one with his secret. He had a bit of an awkward social life. At twenty, he still hadn't gotten a hold of his ability which, as far as he could tell, no one else has it. He hung just below the ceiling for awhile. He willed himself to float back down , but the ability seemed to have a mind of it's own. All his research hadn't help in any meaningful way. It wasn't as though there were humans who could fly, and if they could, they were hiding it so well like he was doing.
Suddenly, he felt himself fall on the bed. He yelp once, his heart beating behind his ribcage. That had been really sudden! He hope he would eventually be able to control it and perhaps- just perhaps- be able to actually fly. He thought that was only- for him- natural. Then, an idea occurred to him. He dismissed it immediately- too risky. He could die! He had no idea the extent of his ability. He got up from the bed carefully, expecting to unexpectedly shoot into the air. Nothing like that happened. he breathed a little easier. As he made his way to the bathroom, the idea nagged at him. He thought about it more closely. The more he did, the more he felt he should try it. Yes, he would try it. Tonight!

Michael made his way to the Eko Tower in the heart of Eko Atlantic City, Lagos. He rode the elevator to the roof. He got out and took in the beautiful sights. He exhales sharply as the reality of his plan dawned on him.
"This is crazy. I can't do this!" He turned back to leave but suddenly rose into the air. "Not again!" He lamented. Then he fell to the ground as suddenly as he had floated off it. He laid there for awhile, then decided to go for it. Before he could change his mind again, he ran- like a soldier running toward the enemy camp- and jumped off the tower. He felt himself falling, really fast!. He expected to be suspended in mid air anytime soon, but nothing like that happened. He panicked now, real panic. he could see the ground rushing towards him. He closed his eyes shut then felt himself slowing as he fell. He willed himself to stop and it worked, he did! He got excited. Then he began to actually fly!
