Abducted

Image Source: dailymail.co.uk He found himself sprawled on a wasteland and in the middle of nowhere. He couldn't remember just how he had gotten there but something felt strangely off about the whole place. For one thing, the sun was not particularly visible in the clear sky, although there was a dark brightness on the horizon and across the wasteland. He staggered to his feet and fought down a wave of nausea. He also felt vertigo as though he was several feet in the air, but as far as he could tell he was standing on terra firma, not some skyscraper somewhere. What really burned him wasn't the environment- even though it nagged at him; what really burned him was the fact that he couldn't remember a damn thing about how he got into this strange and creepy place. Suddenly, he realised he couldn't remember his name or anything about himself. He started to panic. He was in real trouble now. He knew and remembered general things like the fact that he was human, he ...

Executioner- the psyche of a serial killer

Image
Image Source: indiewire.com They found her sprawled on her back, her legs entangled on the bed sheet, blood and brain matter everywhere; on the bed, on the headboard, the walls. They also noticed some fecal matter in the pool of blood. Her eyes looked up at them, staring and in shock. Her mouth were parted slightly. Her bridal dress was soaked in so much blood. From the look of things, it appeared she had been tortured in the bathroom, then dragged to the bed; there was a trail of blood leading from the bathroom to the bedroom. A close examination revealed she had been raped right before her murder. But the killer had been careful, no semen where found on her, nor where there any foreign pubic hair which suggest her killer was possibly- and frighteningly so- highly intelligent and that he probably shaved his groin before raping her. In any case, it was a disturbing possibility, one in which the Nigerian Police Force were hardly equipped to handle. Her husband was by the corner ...

Fatal Crash

Image Source: exlinklodge.com Maybe it was the beer he had drunk the night before, or perhaps, it was because he was running late to the meeting scheduled for nine. Jimi Awoyinka drove the Toyota Avalon like he was contesting for a place in Formula 1, in a Lagos highway! The poor machine wined and fumed as it sped its master to his destination. Jimi urged and pedaled, swerving in and out of traffic. Luckily, the traffic in Lagos was currently on the nice and free, nearly anyway. Somewhere along Oworonshoki, Jimi pushed the highway horse to a hundred and eigthy-two, daring the god of the highway to stop him. Maybe he shouldn't have drunk that one last bottle of beer last night. Maybe he would've woken up early, maybe he wouldn't be speeding like the Flash to a meeting at Lekki. Finally, he could see the Third Mainland Bridge looming ahead like the bridge to Heaven. He urged his Toyota Avalon unto it and floored his accelerator. He was really going now. The other c...

Almost Tragedy

Image
Image Source: newvaluestream.com She dashed across the street, her small, tottering legs carrying her. She giggled, just like children do, as she chased after the ball, rolling on. No one saw her go. There were no adults to stop her from advancing into the street. They were inside, laughing their hearts out, as they watched the comic show on TV.  No one remembered to lock the door, or to keep her from going outside. So, it happened, a careless, drunk driver came barreling down the road in his late model Ford, raising dust in its wake. The little girl stared, mouth opened in confusion, unaware of the danger posed to her life. But at almost the point of impact, the car swerved away from her, as if pushed by a supernatural force. It went on a zig-zag pattern before coming to rest beside a NEPA pole, throwing smoke in the air. The little girl carried on without a care in the world. So, I asked myself, what saved her life? Was it an Angel, or was it just by chance? Really...

Till Death do us Apart, Or not!

Image
Image Credit: marriage.com For better, for worse; for richer, for poorer. Those were the words they exchanged on the altar. To stay together till death do them apart, but two years down the line they were already apart and death had nothing to do with it. Whatever happened to the love they professed! The first night had been wide, yes. The following weeks had been great, yes. But six months in, they both started to show their true colors; one was an alcoholic and got abusive when he drank, the other was a constant nagger and got bitter faster than lightning could strike. Their match was not made in Heaven. Far from it, it seemed to have been hatched in Hell. Everything seemed so clusterfuck. Sex became less frequent between the two, and when it did came, it lack the passion it used to have; one man humping vigorously while the woman laid down thinking about that dress she saw on Jumia, totally divorced from the moment. It was little wonder they both look for passion outside, an...

Bar Fight

Image
Image Credit: firstwefeast.com He knew he should never have pick a fight with someone larger and, obviously stronger, than he was, but that couldn't be helped now. He had been drunk right before the moment. You couldn't blame him for the bad, and deadly , judgment he executed. All he could do now was to stay alive and hope to get out in one piece. That could be a problem though, he didn't know how much fight he had left in himself. Okay, stay alive. He saw the punch coming, it seemed to travel in slow motion, or maybe it was just his head. He tried to duck but it got him square on the jaw. He felt himself thrown sideways, his head hitting the bar stool before coming to rest on the floor. "Come on! Come on you punk!", the big-strong-dude-with-the-shaved-head said. " I'm just getting started". With that, he picked him up by a handful of his hair, hands digging into his scalp. He howled loudly but couldn't stop the punch to his belly. He ...
